Power of Attorney

Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) allow you to appoint someone you trust to manage your affairs if you are temporarily or permanently unable to do so yourself. Our experienced team can help you tailor your LPA to both meet your needs now and keep a close eye on the future.

There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA):

Property and Financial Affairs – this allows your Attorneys to manage your financial affairs for you. This LPA can be used as soon as it is registered, regardless of whether you have mental capacity or not.

Health and Welfare – this allows your Attorneys to make decisions about your care including medical treatment. Once registered, this document will only become active once you have lost mental capacity.

Both types of LPA can be written to give your Attorneys full ability to manage your affairs in your best interests, or to only allow them to make specific decisions.

Our Wills and Probate Department are a member of the Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme and some of our Lawyers have additional, professional qualifications with STEP, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners which enables them to give specialist advice, bespoke to your matter.
