Introducing our Domestic Abuse Ambassador - Olivia Cameron

In March 2025, I completed the Stop Domestic Abuse Ambassador Training, marking a significant step in my commitment to supporting survivors and raising awareness about domestic abuse.

At Shentons, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with individuals affected by domestic abuse, witnessing its profound impact not only on victims but on entire families. The trauma often reverberates beyond the immediate abuse, affecting children, relationships, and the sense of safety.

For survivors, navigating family proceedings can be a deeply traumatising and frightening experience. It’s a process that requires a sensitive, understanding, and trauma-informed approach, which I strive to provide in every case.

It's crucial for everyone to understand domestic abuse, its lasting impact, the various forms it can take, and how to spot the signs. Abuse isn't always visible - it can be emotional, financial, sexual and affect anyone regardless of age, gender, or background.

My key focuses as a Domestic Abuse Ambassador:

  • Raising awareness of the various forms of domestic abuse, including physical, emotional, financial, sexual, psychological, or coercive and controlling behaviour.
  • Educating others on recognizing the signs and responding with empathy and action.
  • Advocating for survivors to ensure they have access to the necessary resources, support, and justice.

Domestic abuse can trap generations, and breaking that cycle begins with awareness, compassion, and action.

I'm proud that Shentons continues to offer Legal Aid, especially as many firms no longer do.

Legal Aid is vital for survivors seeking protection and justice, and I’m grateful to be part of a firm that prioritises accessibility and support.
