It was a bright and sunny day on 28th June and Shentons were once again slicing cake and making tea at the St Cross Fete in Winchester. We love sponsoring the Fete and seeing the local community out in force!
2025 has been a great year for the firm and giving back to the community. We believe passionately in helping everyone understand the Justice System and Rule of Law which is why we helped to fund Winchester Law Week for the second-year running. Their outreach programme aims to connect all parts of the community and to shift perceptions of crime and criminality – something that we find really inspiring. The film ‘Holloway’ for example, was an incredibly moving piece about the incarceration of women and the stories they have to tell. There was also a talk from former Detective Inspector Julie McKay about solving murders when the victims are less sympathetic individuals for the general public and the challenges that brought her investigative work. We were thoroughly proud to be a part of the event.
Throughout the rest of the year our Family team continued to support the Trinity Centre’s Women’s Group with advice on domestic violence and the protective injunctions that could help them. Our SEN team and other members of staff attended the ‘Every Pair Tells a Story’ campaign in the centre of town. They took 6 pairs of shoes to represent 6 separate children of employees at the firm who have been neglected by the SEN education system. Our Private Client Team took part in Legacy Action week and have been involved in the Big Conversation initiative. The firm has also supported and attended many careers fairs to inspire the next generation and fund-raising quiz nights for charity.
Shentons has been at the heart of the Winchester community for 200 years – long may it continue!
