Nadine Baynes is a Solicitor in our Wills and Probate team, with over 30 years of experience in the legal profession. Her career reflects not only a steady progression through a range of legal roles, but also the reality of building a career in law alongside raising a family.
Nadine began her legal career as a receptionist before moving into secretarial and paralegal roles. Over time, she gained experience across several areas of law, including family, conveyancing, litigation and private client work. This background gave her a practical understanding of how legal matters affect clients and the importance of consistent, clear communication.
Her career path has not been a straightforward one. Nadine took time out to raise her children, during which she found it difficult to pursue formal legal qualifications in a way that fitted around family life. Like many working mothers, particularly in the legal sector, she had to navigate the challenge of balancing professional goals with the demands of bringing up a young family.
When she returned to work, she did so with a clear focus. While working as a paralegal, she completed further study, including an access course and her Law Degree. Managing work, study and family life required careful organisation and persistence, and she remained focused on her goal of qualifying as a solicitor.
She later secured a training contract and qualified as a Solicitor in 2019, working in Wills and Probate. Achieving qualification alongside raising three children remains a significant milestone in her career and reflects the determination required to progress in the profession outside a traditional route.
Nadine now specialises in Wills and Probate, supporting clients with estate planning and administration, drafting wills and helping clients make powers of attorney. Her experience allows her to take a practical, straightforward approach, and she understands that these matters are often discussed at difficult or sensitive times. She focuses on explaining things clearly and ensuring clients feel comfortable and informed.
Her approach to client care is shaped by both her professional experience and her personal responsibilities. She values being approachable and takes the time to understand each client’s circumstances, recognising that legal advice often sits alongside wider family considerations.
Within our team, Nadine values the supportive and collaborative environment. Having worked in different firms, she appreciates a culture where colleagues share knowledge and work together to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
Her advice reflects her practical outlook: “Don’t wait until it’s urgent. Get good advice early and make sure your wishes are clearly set out. It’s the best way to protect yourself and those you care about.”
