‘No fault divorce’ was implemented in 2022, meaning that couples no longer have to place blame on each other for the breakdown of their marriage. Our specialist lawyers can represent and guide you through the divorce process, helping to ease the stress and burden of formalising your separation.
We know the importance of financial security, particularly when children are involved. We can help negotiate financial settlements, which often involve the division of property and capital, arrangements for the family home, sharing pensions, offsetting assets and child and spousal maintenance.
A divorce does not need to be drawn out or confrontational. As proud members of Resolution, we encourage amicable and practical solutions and support clients to reach settlements out of court. This could be through alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation, collaborative meetings or arbitration. In cases where this is not possible, we are expertly equipped to represent clients in Financial Remedy Proceedings.
Our experienced lawyers deal with all situations, from low asset needs cases, to high-net-worth cases involving complex issues such as intervenors, trusts, inheritance, offshore assets, businesses and farming assets.
We can also assist by preparing a separation agreement to formalise financial, property and child arrangements pending divorce, or in cases where a couple is not yet ready to divorce or cannot divorce due to cultural or religious reasons.

a year agoMichelle and team at Shentons were brilliant at handling our property purchase. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again or recommend them. The quality of work and service was excellent, Michelle is on the ball and responsive to emails, she pushed the other side and made sure we were comfortable and informed at every step. Despite being thrown some curve balls Michelle remained calm, and dealt with all of them in an efficient but thorough manner. From quote to completion everything her and her team did was excellent, and in line with the estimate given which for first time buyers allowed us to budget without fear of massive final bill. It’s nice to know what you are getting into. And finally to top it off they are all lovely approachable people that I wouldn’t hesitate to trust with such a big purchase or sale going forward.
